Minneapolis Heart Institute – Crosby
In January 2002, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Central Lakes Medical Clinic, and the Minneapolis Heart Institute celebrated the opening of Minneapolis Heart Institute-Crosby (MHI-Crosby). From the beginning, MHI-Crosby cardiologist, Dr. Peter Stokman has worked closely with other physicians and Abbott Northwestern Hospital in setting the vision for cardiac services.
Cuyuna Regional Medical Center has partnered with Abbott Northwestern Hospital to establish a Level One heart attack protocol. Abbott Northwestern’s protocol, the first of its kind, creates a unique alliance allowing heart attack patients, who fit established criteria, a fast track to coronary angioplasty at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. “In some cases, a patient in this area having a heart attack may be at the Heart Hospital in Minneapolis and receiving the needed care as quickly as if they lived in the Cities,” said Dr. Stokman.
With the growing need for cardiology services on the Medical Campus, MHI- Crosby continues to expand its staffing and services. Along with Dr. Peter Stokman, cardiologist, Dr. Timothy Dirks; interventional cardiologist, Dr. James Madison; and internist, Dr. James Furda provide a full range of cardiovascular services and diagnostic imaging.
